Special Message from the President: Campus Move-Out Delayed

March 20, 2020

Students,

Thank you for your diligence in checking your ASU email to stay informed as we face this unprecedented situation. As you are aware, on Thursday, March 19, we sent a communication that included a form to reserve a time slot for your housing move-out. We now need to modify those instructions.

Earlier this afternoon, the City of Albany and Dougherty County instituted a “shelter in place” ordinance for our area. Based upon actions taken by the City of Albany and Dougherty County Governments, effective at 8 p.m. tonight, March 20, the housing move-out process will be delayed until further notice.

If you have a scheduled move-out today, March 20, you will be allowed to complete that move-out. Please complete your move-out process as quickly as possible. Only those students who had a reservation slot for today will be permitted to access the residence halls for move-out. Key card access is currently available only to those students who are scheduled to move out today.

The students remaining in housing due to extenuating circumstances received a communication yesterday, March 19, and should follow the instructions related to Dining Services.

Additional information will be provided via your ASU email as soon as it is available regarding the resumption of the move-out process. Students, do not return to the campus.

We apologize for the need to make this change, but we must do what we can to stem the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We support the decision of the City and County. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

Sincerely,

Marion Ross Fedrick
President
