Parent Update

March 13, 2020

Dear ASU Parent/Guardian,

As you may have heard from your student, Albany State University announced yesterday that—effective Monday, March 16, 2020—all USG institutions will temporarily suspend instruction for two weeks to assess the current situation regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) and to prepare for online and remote instruction when appropriate.

We continue to keep the health and wellbeing of your student as our top priority.

On-campus students who need to come back to campus to retrieve books or essential belongings, we will open our halls for temporary building access:

Friday, March 13: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, March 14: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, March 15: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If students have extenuating circumstances and are unable to leave campus, they have been instructed to contact asuhousing@asurams.edu or 229-500-2025.

The health centers, dining services, library services, and recreation and athletics facilities will be following their business continuity plan. Some services may have limited operations. Communications regarding these limited operations will be sent to the campus community.

While we have worked hard to prepare for the spring events, the health and safety of our campus, alumni, community and prospective students takes priority. For this reason, we have postponed all planned activities for the timeframe of
March 13 - April 3.

Please ask your student to pay close attention to their ASU email inboxes and to refer to www.asurams.edu/coronavirus for the most up-to-date information and resources.
