            CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS
          
        
        
          This certificate program consists of six (6) Georgia Addiction Counselors’ Association
        
        
          (GACA) approved courses that total to 270 clock hours of instruction.  Students who
        
        
          complete this certificate program will meet the
        
        
          
            academic training requirement
          
        
        
          at the CAC-II
        
        
          level (Certified Addiction Counselor – Level Two) for certification in addiction counseling.
        
        
          The six courses are taught over a period of three semesters with two courses being offered
        
        
          per semester for a total of 6 semester credits and 90 clock hours each semester.
        
        
          Individuals who sit for the CAC Level II exam must have a Bachelor’s degree.
        
        
          
            Admission Criteria:
          
        
        
          Individuals who have achieved a Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
        
        
          However, individuals are eligible for admission to the Addiction Counseling certificate
        
        
          program who meet the following criteria:
        
        
          Individuals who have earned a grade of “C” or better in all three of the following
        
        
          courses:
        
        
          •
        
        
          English 1101 (English Composition I)
        
        
          •
        
        
          English 1102 (English Composition II) and
        
        
          •
        
        
          Psychology 1101 (General Psychology)
        
        
          *Individuals not meeting the admissions criteria are encouraged to major in Human
        
        
          Services Technology. In doing so, the student will be able to obtain an AS in Human
        
        
          Services Technology (a two year Associate of Science degree) and earn the Addiction
        
        
          counseling Certificate simultaneously.
