Program Requirements

  1. The student must earn a minimum of 125 semester hours with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25 and a minimum grade of “C” in all business courses.

  2. Transfer students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25 for admission into the program and at least 50% of the business credit hours must be earned at ASU.

  3. The student must successfully complete the Major Field Achievement Test (MFAT)

♦ Undergraduate programs marked with this symbol are considered degree completion programs, requiring students to hold an associate's degree from a technical college within the TCSG (Technical College System of Georgia). B.S. Degree in Accounting                                                                                      

The Accounting program is designed to  train students to be professional  accountants.  Courses in the program build a rich knowledge of accounting theory and practice on both private and public levels.  Students are provided with a sound understanding of the practical and the theoretical aspects of Accounting concepts and procedures. Developing critical thinking and communication skills are also emphasized in the program. Students are encouraged to sit for the certification exams at the completion of the program.

B.S. Degree in Business Information Systems 

The Business Information Systems program provides professional preparation for persons who are interested in the coordination, facilitation, and expedition of information systems within an organization.  Emphasis is placed on skills necessary for the design, development, and support of information systems, ranging from office automation systems, management information systems, decision support systems and expert systems.  Students are trained to develop technological solutions to meet the needs of business and industry.

B.S. Degree in Business Management 

The Management program is designed to enable students to develop analytical abilities, critical thinking, and logical reasoning skills.  Students are trained to acquire a sound understanding of modern management practices, relevant quantitative and qualitative techniques and computer applications in business and in business-related management.  Developing student’s ethical values and ability to work effectively with others and produce desired outcomes are emphasized. Also, students are provided with technological knowledge and skills needed to succeed in business management in a rapidly changing, global economy.

B.S. Degree in Healthcare Management  

The Healthcare Management program aims at developing students with the capabilities to manage public and private healthcare organizations, understand and interpret healthcare management issues.  Developing critical thinking and communication skills are also emphasized in the program. The program provides general training in healthcare administration and the students are provided practical experiences in a variety of healthcare settings that include healthcare management practices in planning, budgeting, and staffing. Also, students are acquainted with various healthcare delivery modalities such as managed healthcare and traditional healthcare organizations.

B.S. Degree in Marketing  

The Marketing program is designed to provide students with opportunities to acquire skills, experiences, and knowledge that facilitate the attainment of marketing career objectives.  Developing critical thinking and communication skills are also emphasized in the program. Completion of the Marketing degree program can lead to careers in professional selling, advertising, distribution, marketing research, public relations, and industrial marketing.

B.S. Degree in Supply Chain and Logistics Management

♦ B.A.S. Degree in Fire Services Administration   

The Fire Services Administration program is designed to provide students with opportunities to acquire skills, experiences, and knowledge that facilitate the attainment of administrative and supervisory positions within fire service departments and agencies.  Developing critical thinking and communication skills are also emphasized. The new program was developed in partnership with Albany Technical College and the other technical colleges in Georgia, so that technical college graduates with Associate Degrees in Fire Science can seamlessly articulate to ASU to complete their bachelor’s degree. B.A.S. Degree in Technology Management 

Requirements

1. The student must earn an Associate of Applied Science (AAS degree) in Technology or Associate of Applied Technology(AAT) from a SACS accredited institution.

2. The student must complete 30 semester hours of business majors required courses beyond Area F courses plus additional 36 semester hours of technology management courses that include up to 27 semester hours of transfer coursework in technology and a grade of "C" or above in each course in Areas F, G, and H.

3. The student must complete a minimum of 125 semester hours with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25 in overall program.

4. The student must complete the Major Field Achievement Test (MFAT) as a part of course requirements of course requirements of MGMT 4199.

Minor - Undergraduate

 

Minor in Business Administration (Non Business Majors) 

Minor in Business Administration can be earned with any major. The program includes 18 hours added to a student's current major and will focus on how to start and run a small business.

Minor in Supply Chain and Logistics Management    

Minor in Supply Chain and Logistics Management will enable an ASU undergraduate to be eligible for a professional designation called "PLS" (Professional designation in Logistics and Supply Chain Management) from the American Society of Transportation and Logistics "AST&L", which is a professional organization that started in 1946. Students with any major can earn a minor in Supply Chain and Logistics. The program requires only additional 16 hours (4 classes) for those with any major in College of Business.

MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA)  

Program Mission

The faculty and staff of the College of Business are firmly committed to offering an academically rigorous educational process for business professionals who seek advancement to middle and upper level management positions. The MBA program’s fundamental purpose is to develop professional managers/leaders capable of making valuable contributions to the system of diversity and growth of their chosen organizations. The program’s primary geographic focus has been individuals located throughout the Albany, Georgia metropolitan area, Southwest Georgia and the Southeastern United States. With distance learning and other technological advances, such as online courses, the program reaches out to business professionals throughout the country and the world

Program Requirements

  1. Baccalaureate degree earned in any field from a regionally accredited college or university

  2. Submission of completed application for admission

  3. An official copy of academic transcripts from all colleges and universities attended

  4. Two letters of reference that focus on the candidate's potential success in graduate education

  5. A 1000 word statement of purpose. If English is not the applicant's first language, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score is required and considered pursuant to the International Student requirements below.

International Student Requirements

International applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for admission to Albany State University's Graduate Programs in Business. In addition to the standard application procedure, there are several additional steps that must be taken.

  • Statement of Financial Responsibility

  • Affidavit of Support

  • TOEFL-Must be submitted unless English is the native language. Minimum scores: 500 (Paper Based Test), 173 (Computer Based Test), 61 (Internet Based Test)

  • WES-(Evaluation of Foreign Educational Credentials) - Transcripts from institutions outside the United States must first be submitted to Word Education Services, Inc. for a course by course evaluation before being mailed to the Director of Admissions

  • VISA / PASSPORT copy

  • Certificate of F-1 eligibility

  • I-20 (If you are coming from another U.S institution, A copy of your I-94 and I-20 are required) Once the applicants file is completed and an admission decision has been made, the international Student Coordinator will send the student an I-20 Form, enabling the student to Apply for a VISA

Master of Business Administration in Accounting

 

The Five-year BS/MBA degree (Accounting Concentration) in the College of Business at Albany State University is designed to enable students to sit for the CPA examination and qualify as Certified Public Accountants upon completion of degree requirements. Students who successfully complete requirements for the 5-year MBA degree will be awarded both a B.S. degree in Accounting and an MBA degree.
