I am thrilled to be a member of the Albany State University family and excited about the opportunity I have to encourage young people directly to take charge of their future.
Since my arrival in Southwest Georgia, I’ve met brilliant students, a caring faculty and conscientious staff who have opened wide the doors of welcome. It is great to experience what it means to be a Golden Ram!
Albany State has a rich and glorious history. Its origins trace to 1903 when Dr. Joseph Winthrop Holley founded the Albany Bible and Manual Training Institute to provide a religious and industrial education to African Americans. Today, we are proud to be among 31 state institutions in the University System of Georgia. Although an historically black university, we take pride in the diversity of our faculty, staff and students. Our mission is to help all students achieve their personal, educational and professional goals. The motto, Potential Realized is fitting. Helping students accomplish their dreams of completing a college education is what we do daily, all year long.
As you peruse this page, pay particular attention to its content. I have chosen to focus attention on the accomplishments of students. My priority will always be to provide to them the best of the best in academic offerings, student services and customer service.
We value higher education. And our aim is to insure that Golden Rams become innovative, critical thinkers who are transformed into leaders prepared to accept and solve the challenges faced in the global marketplace.
