Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling Instructions

 If you would like to receive the Federal Direct Student Loan(s) please complete the following items:

·         Electronic Master Promissory Note (MPN)

o    Go to https://studentloans.gov

o    Click on “Sign In”

o    Enter your social security number, the first two characters of your last name, your date of birth and your Federal Student Aid PIN number

o    Click on “Sign In”

o    Click on “Complete MPN” under the Master Promissory Note heading on the menu to the left

o    Select the appropriate loan type – Subsidized/Unsubsidized or Graduate PLUS

o    Complete steps 1 -4


·         Online Entrance Counseling

o    Go to https://studentloans.gov

o    Click on “Sign In”

o    Enter your social security number, the first two characters of your last name, your date of birth and your Federal Student Aid PIN number

o    Click on “Sign In”

o    Click on “Complete Entrance Counseling” under the Counseling heading on the menu to the left

o    Click on “Complete Entrance Counseling” under “What To Do:”

o    Select the counseling type and click Continue –

§  I am an undergraduate student

§  I am a graduate/professional student

o    Follow the steps to complete entrance counseling

 

 


You are only required to complete the Online Entrance Counseling once and the Electronic Master Promissory Note is valid for 10 years.

 

You will need to use your Federal PIN Number to complete the Electronic Master Promissory Note and the Online Entrance Counseling. You may Apply for a new PIN or retrieve your already established PIN at www.pin.ed.gov.

If you wish to cancel or reduce your loans, please send an email to ifinaid@asurams.edu and include your name and RAM ID.

If you have completed the promissory note and entrance counseling previously, please send an email to ifinaid@asurams.edu and include your name and RAM ID so that we can check for any errors with the promissory note or entrance counseling.
