General Information

Albany State University holds commencement ceremonies at the end of the Spring and Fall Semesters at the Albany Civic Center, 100 W. Oglethorpe Blvd., Albany, GA  31701. Google Maps Link to the Civic Center

Handicapped guests will be seated as soon as they arrive.

Live streaming

The ceremony will be available for viewing online for your family and friends who are not able to be at the ceremony.  ASU does not guarantee the quality of the webcast. The webcast is available on the ASU YouTube Channel.

Ceremony Length

The ceremony is anticipated to take up to 2.5 hours. The ceremony is not complete until the recessional has ended. We ask that all graduating students and guests stay for the entire ceremony and recessional.

Outside Food

No outside food or coolers are allowed at the Albany Civic Center.

Signage

Large signs, balloons, inflatable toys, noisemakers, and camera tripods are not allowed inside the Albany Civic Center. Guests may not bring any items that may infringe upon the view of other guests. Guests who do not comply may be denied entry by arena ushers.

Alcohol

Alcohol is not allowed at the ceremony. Do not come to the ceremony under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. Individuals exhibiting behavior that is unacceptable or unsafe will be escorted away from the venue by ASU police. If a graduate or potential graduate is displaying symptoms of alcohol influence, ASU reserves the right to prohibit you from participating in the ceremony.

Photography and Video

Photographers and videographers are not allowed in the graduate seating section, near the stage, in aisles, or in handicapped seating sections. Security and ushers reserve the right to remove photographers and videographers from restricted areas. We request that families limit the use of selfie-sticks during the ceremony.

The ceremony will be professionally photographed. All graduates will also have the opportunity to have formal graduate portraits taken during their commencement ceremony.
