Admissions Information
Important Notice
Dual Enrollment (DE) students applying to ASU for Summer and Fall 2020 may be admitted without an ACT/SAT or Accuplacer score if they meet other established requirements for admission.
Albany State is adapting our admissions processes to adjust to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to a more personalized, virtual approach for our applicants following the cancellation of testing services by the College Board and ACT. Students that have already applied are in the process of being contacted about the status of their application. For students that have not applied for the Summer or Fall 2020 terms, the application fee is being waived for the time being. Contact the Office of Dual Enrollment if you need assistance applying at 229-500-2940 or dualenrollment@asurams.edu
We understand this is an uncertain time for many people, however, at Albany State, we are determined to use this time to connect with our prospective students and their families. We look forward to speaking with you on the benefits a degree from ASU has to offer.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE SAT, ACT, Accuplacer SCORES
In light of the decision made by the College Board and ACT to suspend the availability of testing during the COVID‐19 virus pandemic, the University System of Georgia has approved alternate procedures for admitting DE students to the Summer and Fall 2020 Terms. These are as follows:
- For upcoming 10th Graders, currently the SAT/ACT requirements are being deferred until December 30th, 2020. To be funded for Dual Enrollment, the student must test and meet the following requirements by the deferred deadline for retroactive funding. This means the payment of tuition and fees will become the responsibility of the parent/guardian if the minimum requirements are not met. Before an admissions decision can be rendered, parents will be asked to complete an acknowledgement form for financial responsibility.
Minimum Requirements are: (Both test must be in a single national test administration meaning scores cannot be combined from different test dates)
ACT |
SAT |
Composite Score of 26 |
1200 combined converted score on verbal and Math |
*For 11th and 12th grade Dual Enrollment applicants without test scores, the following must be satisfied:
- Provide a transcript showing they are on-track for completing all high school graduation
requirements and the USG’s Required High School Curriculum (RHSC);
- Have at least a 3.0 High School Grade Point Average calculated on the RHSC courses completed; and,
- Exempt placement in corequisite Learning Support for both English and mathematics.
Dual Enrollment applicants without test scores must meet both of the following to
exempt placement in corequisite Learning Support:
- English: Two units of RHSC English must be successfully completed prior to the start of the Dual Enrollment term; and,
- Math: High school Algebra II or the equivalent must be successfully completed prior to the start of the Dual Enrollment term.
Students not meeting both of the above may be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis but, if admitted, may not be placed into any English or math course or any course that has English or math as a prerequisite unless they are able to exempt corequisite Learning Support placement in another way.
Please reach out to us at dualenrollment@asurams.edu if you are having trouble getting your high school transcript sent to the Admissions Office.
IF YOU HAVE SAT, ACT, or Accuplacer SCORES
You may still submit your scores for evaluation in the admissions process. We encourage students to go ahead and submit any available scores for course placement purposes.
For those that have already applied and turned in test scores, we are currently working to re-evaluate our applications already on file. We will be reaching out to students with updates as decisions are made. If you would like an update on your file as it stands now, please reach out to dualenrollment@asurams.edu or admissions@asurams.edu and we will update you.
For questions about this process or the standard processes for ASU admissions, please connect with us at dualenrollment@asurams.edu or admissions@asurams.edu. The Dual Enrollment Coordinator and our admissions team are eager to set up virtual meetings with incoming and prospective students. They are also available via phone and email.
