Albany State University Celebrates Founder’s Day 2025

Albany State University (ASU) proudly announces its Founder’s Day 2025 celebration, taking place from April 1-4, under the theme “From Foundations to Frontiers: 122 Years of Progress and Promise.” This theme honors ASU’s remarkable journey from its origins as a Bible and Manual Training Institute to its current status as a regionally ranked HBCU with a global impact.

Founder’s Day is a time for reflection, celebration, and forward-looking innovation as the ASU community gathers to honor the university’s rich history and embrace its future frontiers in education, research, and community development.

The highlight of the week will be the Founder’s Day Convocation on Friday, April 4, at 10:00 AM in Ntaylor the Billy C. Black Auditorium on the East Campus. Albany State University is honored to welcome Nikeya N. Taylor, as this year’s Convocation Speaker. As the great-niece of ASU’s founder, Dr. Joseph Winthrop Holley, Taylor carries forward a legacy of leadership, service, and excellence.

A dedicated professional and community leader, Taylor holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on human resource management, along with an MBA in human resources. She has made significant contributions in her 22-year career at AT&T and currently serves as the President of the Jacksonville Chapter of The NETwork BICP (Black Integrated Communications Professionals), leading initiatives in mentorship, professional development, and service. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Following the Convocation Ceremony, a Graveside Service will be held at 11:30 AM at the Presidential Burial Site on the Lower East Campus, honoring the legacy of Dr. Holley.

Albany State University invites alumni, students, faculty, staff, and the broader community to join in this historic celebration. As we honor our past, we also look ahead to an even brighter future for ASU.
