Albany State Offers 2026 Summer Camps

Albany State University (ASU) will provide safe, fun, and enriching summer camp opportunities for middle and high school students for June 2026.

- Age Requirement: Rising 7th - 10th Grade Students
The ASU Science Sleuths Summer Camp is a ten-day applied science enrichment programdesigned for rising 7th through 10th grade students from Southwest Georgia. The camp introduces participants to scientific thinking, problem solving, and real-world applications of science through hands on laboratory activities, engineering challenges, logic-based games, and experiential learning. While forensic science serves as a central theme, the program integrates concepts from chemistry, biology, physics, technology, criminal justice, and related fields to promote broad scientific literacy and critical thinking skills. Campers will explore age-appropriate topics such as crime scene investigation, DNA, evidence documentation, ballistics, and scientific ethics. Daily themed modules may include forensic science, mental health and wellness, career exploration, criminal justice, and applied science in industry. Experiential learning will be enhanced through guest speakers and field experiences with regional community partners, including public safety agencies, courts, and local industry.

The clean energy summer program will target 15-20 local high schoolers (9-12) for 1-week led and implemented by the PI, local professionals, and solar energy researcher students on ASU campus. The day camp will provide lunches (no lodging). This clean energy program not only allows for expansion of the currently existing program, but also makes the solar energy project stronger, benefiting local students and the entire community for years to come, particularly for low-income black communities, eventually leading to the equal access to energy, poverty alleviation, and environmental protection.
