Albany State University (ASU) is providing safe, fun and enriching summer camp opportunities.

May: 

Men's Basketball Team Camp | May 26-27 

The ASU Men's Basketball Camp will host up to 32 teams for five games over the two day camp.

 June:

ASYEP (Formerly NYSP) Albany State Youth Enrichment Program | June 1 - July 22 

The Albany State Youth Enrichment Program (ASYEP) at Albany State University (ASU) is a community outreach initiative designed to provide youth within the city of Albany and Dougherty County, Georgia and surrounding counties an opportunity to engage in a variety of enrichment activities during the months of June and July.  The primary ventures of the program are to include youth development, physical fitness and wellness, and development of social and academic skills. The youth will engage in hands-on sport activities and immersive courses in the areas of English, Math, and Science taught during the program. As a result, these participants will be better prepared to excel academically and will have increased awareness of healthy lifestyles. This summer outreach program will also allow for the participants to think and begin planning their educational and professional career.

Accelerated Research Training Experience and Mentorship in STEM (ARTEMIS) Precollege Summer Institute (PSI) Scholars Program | June 6-17

The ASU Accelerated Research Training Experience & Mentorship In STEM (ARTEMIS) Precollege Summer Institute (PSI) is a two-week, day residential camp for rising sophomore and junior high school students interested in pursuing a STEM-based career. Participating students will explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The ARTEMIS Precollege Summer Institute offers active, hands-on learning in STEM and college preparation and career-based mentoring ASU students, faculty and staff organize a week of creative activities and lessons that incorporate science into the daily curricula, including flying UAVs (drones), launching rockets, microcontrollers, and chemistry. Students will also participate in a week long Data Science and Artificial Intelligence workshop hosted with Wells Fargo. Student will also be introduced to real-world science applications through off-campus trips to locations such as the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Huntsville Alabama. The program is committed to enhancing science education and to increasing the number of minorities and women in STEM fields. 

Program includes:

Stronger Together Initiative | June 10 ( 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.)

Young parents, age 15-22, join us for a dynamic event with local speakers sharing resources centered around wellness and prevention, fun activities, and opportunities for you to share your thoughts and input on needed supports for expectant and parenting teens. Young mothers and fathers are invited to attend. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Participants will receive a stipend for attending. Space is limited so register today!

Summer STEM Enrichment Program | June 13 - July 1

ASU Summer STEM Enrichment Program (SSEP) will provide 3 sessions of week-long STEM Camps starting from June 13th, 2022; and ending July 1st, 2022. Each session consists of high-quality hands-on STEM/STEAM fun activities that provide students with exposure to technology and innovative learning strategies to develop the skills, knowledge, and capabilities needed to thrive in our technology-driven world. Technology and art are a part of this experience, along with problem-solving, challenges, cooperative activities, and contests. Both girls and boys will find fun and creative activities in our week-long camp sessions. Additionally, all programs now include a meaningful take-home component so that participants can continue to expand their STEM/STEAM knowledge long after the week is over!

Session times and themes are listed below. Students participating in the morning session will be provided lunch daily via the USDA Federal feeding program. Students may also purchase lunch or bring a packed lunch.

Summer Health and STEM Academy | June 13 - 17 

  • Ages 9th - 12th Grade Students 
  • Free
  • Registrstion is over and the camp is filled. 

The Summer Health and STEM Academy is a unique, week-long event where students will be able to experience science and health-related careers on the ASU campus under the guidance and tutelage of our phenomenal faculty and staff. Additionally, students will be able to hear from professionals in STEM careers and healthcare and tour the state-of-the-art facilities at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital’s Main Campus.

Community Dance Education Program | June 7 - July 7 (11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)

This is an introductory ballet class designed to familiarize participants with the fundamentals of the art form.  Face mask required.

Music and Visual Arts Summer Camp | June 13-24

The ASU Summer Music and Arts Camp is a free, 3-week camp specially designed to assist community middle and high school-aged students to improve their music knowledge and visual art skills. This summer program will help students strengthen their music-based knowledge in performance techniques (instrumental and vocal), theory, history, and technology. Students will have fun while learning skills and strategies to successfully prepare them for college and beyond. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Limit 50 campers.

Women's Empowerment Program for Teens | July 20-22 (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.)

ASU Women’s Empowerment Camp is a program to help reach the female high school teen to provide an experience in Higher Education. This experience will help set goals and aspirations by mentoring the youth and knowing their self-worth, self-esteem and the importance of being confident. The program will include leadership traits, social skills, and proper etiquette behavior. This program will provide opportunities to help each teen embrace their potential growth and build healthy relationships among their peers.
