Dear Golden Ram,
On behalf of the Department of Counseling and Student Accessibility Services team, welcome to the Unsinkable and Indestructible Albany State University! The transition to college marks a milestone that’s both exciting and demanding at times, yet it holds the potential for personal growth, positive change, and endless opportunities.
Our purpose is to support you in your total development and facilitate student success through a mental health and wellness lens. Nobody expects you to show up at college and know exactly how to be successful. Our team is here to guide you as you embark on your journey. We offer individual, couple, and group counseling, teletherapy, referrals, educational and prevention programming, outreach, consultation, and crisis intervention services. We strongly encourage you to fully participate in the vast array of services, programming, and co-curricular activities that extend the academic curriculum, foster holistic wellness, and promote excellence.
Please know that everyone has difficulties at some point throughout life and that it is okay to ask for help when you need it. Asking for help and the desire to achieve balance is a sign of self-awareness, emotional intelligence, strength, and overall maturity. We are committed to serving you and curating an environment that is accessible, safe, inclusive, confidential, and affirming. Live your life like a Golden Ram! Invest in your wellness, make a commitment to being emotionally and physically healthy, take active interest in your academic studies, enjoy leisure time, and nurture meaningful relationships.
Again, welcome and GO RAMS!
