Classroom Technology Update and Upcoming Virtual Training

Information Technology Services is updating the technology in classrooms on the East, West and Cordele Campuses and has plans to update the remaining classrooms in the near future. This update will standardize the outfit of ASU’s classrooms as the University provides remote instruction.

90 classrooms are now equipped with a "TruTouch" display, which is a highly-functional touchscreen TV that allows instructors to utilize WebEx and offers built-in apps including a virtual whiteboard. These rooms will also be equipped with a high-resolution camera and microphones mounted from the ceiling. Instructors will be able to use these devices through WebEx to provide high quality video and audio content to those participating virtually. Faculty will also have the capability to plug in their laptops and auto connect to the Tru Touch device or broadcast a mobile device to the display.

As this technology and means of instruction is brand new, it is vital that all faculty participate in one of our upcoming training sessions. The training will include a general overview of the functionality packed into the display, as well as how to use WebEx to collaborate with students.

ITS will be offering virtual training today, July 22 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.  ITS will also be offering several identical virtual trainings during the week of Faculty/Staff Conference, those details and links will be forthcoming.
