The U.S. Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics project the growth
rate for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers to increase by about 24% between the years
2014 and 2024. This rate is much faster than average when compared to the projected
growth rate for other occupations. As imaging technology evolves, medical facilities
will continue to use ultrasound to replace more invasive, costly procedures. The median
annual wage of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers was $69,650 in May of 2016.
