  1. Focus 2 Career Assessment provided by The Office of Career Services
  2. Create a Handshake account
  3. Schedule an appointment with the Office of Career Services to receive a DEBRIEF and become knowledgeable about the resources available
  4. Receive a FREE Professional Headshot
  5. Connect with us Social Media platforms (TikTok,Instagram, Facebook,Twitter)
  6. Attend programming events catered to Freshmen (Major Fairs)
  7. Search and learn which campus organizations you would like to join and become active

Freshman Career Action Plan

  • Sophomore: ACCESS 

  1. Schedule an appointment with the Office of Career Services to create an initial resume
  2. Seek at least 3 internship opportunities that are available to you through your major via Handshake platform and Career Development Coordinator
  3. Schedule a mock interview with your assigned Career Development Coordinator
  4. Attend on – campus career fairs and employer information sessions that align with your specific college (College of Arts & Sciences/ College of Business, Education, and Professional Studies
  5. Attend Career Connections targeted for each college to learn more about onsite recruitment opportunities
  6. Land an internship/apprenticeship during the summer or participate in a Study Abroad endeavor

Sophmore Career Action Plan

Junior: ACCELERATE

  1. Schedule a follow-up appointment with the Office of Career Services to update your resume and post it on Handshake
  2. Attend Career Prep workshops (Resume, Cover Letter, Interviewing Skills)
  3. Attend on – campus career fairs and employer information sessions that align with your specific college
  4. Attend Career Connections to learn more about onsite recruitment opportunities
  5. Apply for Graduate School
  6. Establish Professional/Personal References (Faculty/Staff, Employers)
  7. Create a LINKEDIN account
  8. Develop an e-portfolio
  9. Begin Networking

Junior Career Action Plan

SENIOR: ASCEND

  1. Schedule an appointment with the Office of Career Services to finalize resume and upload final version to Handshake
  2. Begin Career Chase (Create a list of prospective employers with contact names, addresses and organizations that peak interest)
  3. Attend Career Prep workshops (Resume, Cover Letter, Interviewing Skills)
