Certification
After completing your formal education, the next step is to successfully complete a National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification exam. A credential validates your competence as an OTA professional to employers and the public.

Licensure
Once you have successfully passed the NBCOT certification exam, you can apply for a state license to practice. You must visit the website for the state in which you wish to become licensed to practice occupational therapy.
