Why did you choose ASU?
I chose ASU because they had the option of having an accelerated degree. I was able
to take 7-week courses and complete my degree in 4 semesters.
What motivated you to learn more about your field?
I wanted to learn more about special education because I want to be the best teacher
possible for my students. While completing my degree, I learned current teaching methods,
new technology that can be used in the classroom, and developed my knowledge of specific
disabilities. I can apply my knowledge to my classroom in a variety of ways to help
my students be more successful.
What do you love most about your chosen profession?
I love seeing the progress that my students make. I am so proud of the way that they
consistently try, master topics, and meet their social, academic, and functional goals.
I love watching students grow up and become more independent.
Who has made the biggest impact on you, and who do you consider to be a role model
at ASU?
As an online student, I have not had interactions with many professors, but I do love
my classmates. They were so helpful throughout my journey. We have set up classrooms
on GroupMe to support one another.
What advice would you give to other ASU students?
Enjoy your time, experience as many new things as possible, try to interact with new
people. In college, your education is important, but so is gaining new experiences.
Try and find a balance between the two!
What would you say to a high school student about choosing ASU to further their education?
When choosing a college, you need to ensure that you can achieve your academic and
career goals. ASU has many degree options that can help you be successful in a variety
of jobs and fields. There are also many clubs, organizations, and groups that will
help you become a more well-rounded person and build specific skills, such as professionalism
or similar social skills.
