What motivated you to learn more about your field?
I have always wanted to impact the lives of children, and this field intrigued me because I knew the importance and value of teachers. I knew that becoming a teacher would give me the opportunity to change the world and produce the next generation of leaders, doctors, engineers, and more.

Why did you choose ASU?
Being that Albany State is near my hometown, I knew that I could have the privilege of experiencing the HBCU lifestyle while still not being long distances away from my family. I have attended the Homecoming parades and experienced the band as a child. Since I was younger, I have always had my eyes on Albany State, and now I am fulfilling my dreams.

What do you love most about your chosen profession?
I love the students the most. Even on hard days, they find a way to make me smile and laugh. Working with children has given me an interesting work-story every day!

Who has made the biggest impact on you and who do you consider to be a role model at ASU?
My mom, who has made the biggest impact on me, is also an educator. I admire her wisdom, strength, and most of all her passion for children. I appreciate her endless support and assistance throughout my collegiate journey. Dr. Erica Decuir and Dr. Sonya Mosely are two professors that I would consider my role models at ASU. They were the reasons I dragged myself out of bed to attend their classes. Their teachings will always be instilled in me, and they are also an inspiration to the educator I plan to be.

What advice would you give to other ASU students?
The advice I would give to other ASU students would be to continue going until you cross the finish line. Even when you feel like quitting or giving up, remember that it is all worth it once you look back at how much you have accomplished.

What would you say to a high school student about choosing ASU to further their education?
I would first acknowledge that they made the best choice of wanting to become a Golden Ram. Then, I would encourage them to make friends and create great memories. Your college experience is based upon you!
