Student Spotlight: Johnnie Gordon

Johnnie Gordon, hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, is a freshman in the business administration pathway. Gordon is enrolled in online courses at Albany State University as a dual enrollment student. Gordon is an actor best known for his roles in A Christmas Blessing, Champaign Ill, and the hit TV series, Atlanta.

 

Why did you choose Albany State University? 

I chose ASU because it gave me the best

 opportunity to achieve my goal of graduating with my high school diploma and associate degree.

What motivated you to major in business administration?

 My brother and I own a clothing line named "Jon'Jay" and we have some other businesses that we will  be starting up in the near future. I want to have the proper knowledge to run our business to perfection.

Why did you choose to participate in dual enrollment?

I chose to partake in dual enrollment, because I wanted to have an opportunity to graduate with my associate degree and diploma.

What has been your experience as an online, dual enrollment student?

 My time as a dual enrollment student has been amazing!  I've been blessed with great professors and advisors to help me adjust to the life of a college student.

Who has made the biggest impact on you at Albany State?

The individual who has made the biggest impact on me at ASU is the Dual Enrollment Coordinator, Kristopher Bailey, because he walked me through the process. At age 15, trying to balance high school and college can be intimidating but Mr. Bailey made it a lot easier.

What advice would you give other students looking into dual enrollment?

The advice I would give any student who is interested in dual enrollment is to make sure you are committed, willing to make sacrifices, and do not hesitate to ask for help from your advisors.

What are your goals in life?

 My goals in life are to become a successful entertainer, screenwriter, and entrepreneur.
