University System of Georgia Chancellor Steve Wrigley has named Marion Fedrick interim
                              president of Albany State University.
Fedrick has been serving as the interim executive vice president of Albany State University
since Oct. 16, 2017. She will assume her new position as interim president on Feb.
1, 2018. She replaces President Art Dunning, who previously announced his plans to
                              retire effective Jan. 31, 2018.
“Marion has done an outstanding job leading the institution’s transition and a team
of representatives from Albany State and the University System of Georgia,” Wrigley
said. “Marion has been instrumental in the launch of special initiatives focused on
the needs of students and the regional workforce, and I am excited about the progress
being made. On behalf of the University System, I want to thank Marion for her leadership
and her commitment to ensuring Albany State University is positioned for long-term
                              success.”
Since Fedrick assumed a leadership role at Albany State University, the institution
has undertaken several initiatives, including: an assessment designed to improve the
student experience and a comprehensive effort with faculty to reimagine the university’s
                              academics.
“From day one, Albany State students, faculty and staff have eagerly and candidly
shared their thoughts, concerns and ideas for ways the institution can innovate for
the future,” said Fedrick. “We have had a strong start, and I’m truly inspired by
what the future holds. I want to thank the students, faculty, staff and the community
for all their support and genuine enthusiasm for what Albany State can become with
all of us working closely together.”
Prior to Fedrick’s current role, she served as vice chancellor for human resources
at the University System of Georgia, overseeing administration of all systemwide human
resources initiatives, employee benefits programs and organizational and leadership
                              development initiatives.
Fedrick received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Georgia
and is a certified Senior Human Resources Professional.
